Last week marked the end of a chapter in my working life with Scott and I closing down our company, Pennant that we had built over the previous year and half. Although our company was doing well and we had been doing some great work that we were proud of it was time for us both to move onto new adventures. For me, this meant a small change in focus towards direction I had been beginning to move in for a while and which now felt like the right time to pursue.
As some of you have probably seen on my Instagram account, I have been working on a few side projects over the last year in the form of patterns with Rhythm and Repeat, ceramic experiments and illustration. Getting lost in these side projects for hours on end, I realised how much I loved doing them and how much I would love to spend all day doing this as my job.
With this in mind I decided to take the scary decision to give it a shot and see if I can make a career from art, illustration, side-projects and experiments. I will still be working with some design clients, but I feel a direction with more diversity in my work will help me sustain my enthusiasm and energy over a longer period of time.
Over the weekend I moved into a new studio space which will be the laboratory for my experiments and making. I can't tell you how much I love love love my new studio space. I have always wanted a space where I could have a big desk to paint on and be messy, and a digital desk to keep nice and clean. There are some new pictures of my space below!
So as I move onto this next chapter thanks again to everyone who has supported me, thanks to Scott for everything you have taught me over the last few years working together and thanks to everyone who will be joining me on this next path. I don't know where this path is going to lead but I can tell you I'm hella excited to be here!
